A new land dispute arose between India and Nepal

A new land dispute arose between India and Nepal

India had recently inaugurated the Kailash Mansa Rover Link Road on which Nepal has expressed reservations and claimed ownership over it.

The Link Road connects Pithoragarh in the Indian state of Uttarakhand with the Lapu Lekh Pass, which Nepal claims as its own.

Work is yet to be done on the 4 km link road of Uttarakhand Lipolikh Pass and the road is scheduled to be inaugurated this year but the issue of construction of the link road has come to a standstill due to land ownership claim by Nepal.

In this regard, Nepal's Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gayawali said, "We have made it clear to India that it will refrain from any kind of construction in any part of Nepal."

Nepal's foreign minister's statement came a day after Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Link Road for public use.

On the other hand, India has also rejected Nepal's land ownership claim, saying that the link road has been inaugurated on the existing route and it is owned by India.

In response to the Indian response, Nepal's Foreign Minister said that we are committed to resolving the land dispute through diplomatic dialogue, wanting the two countries to resolve the land dispute in the light of documents, facts and historic agreements.
