The holy and virtuous month of Ramadan has begun for Muslims all over the world and the duration of fasting varies in different countries.
Norway, the Scandinavian country, currently has the longest fasting period in the world at 20 hours. On the other hand, the duration of fasting is 16 hours in the United States, 18 and a half hours in the United Kingdom and 17 hours in Canada.
The duration of fasting in Italy is 17 hours while in Japan it is 16 hours.
The shortest fasting period in the world is in Chile, Australia and New Zealand which is 11 and a half hours.
