Iran Releases US Soldier Jailed For Two Years After Iranian Scientist Released

According to the foreign news agency, US Navy officer Michael White has been in Iranian custody for two years while Iranian scientist Cyrus Asghari has been in US custody for four years.

According to the report, an official involved in the release of the prisoners has confirmed that the release of the US Navy official took place after the release of the Iranian scientist.

Michael White visited Iran two years ago to meet his friend, but was arrested after allegedly insulting Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei on social media.

The Iranian scientist was arrested on charges of stealing US secrets during an educational trip to Ohio. The Iranian scientist was in the custody of immigration officials despite being acquitted by a US court last year.

Reacting to the release of a US soldier from Iran, US President Donald Trump said that Iran had proved that talks on a major conflict were possible.

US President Donald Trump also thanked Iran for the release of the US naval officer, saying it showed that an agreement with Iran was possible.

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif said that the selection of any particular prisoner is not necessary, the release of all prisoners is possible.

Jawad Zarif said that if Iranian prisoners were released, American prisoners could also return home.
