A PIA passenger plane crashed in the Model Colony area near the runway at Karachi Airport. According to the health department, 76 people were killed and two others were injured in the incident. More than a dozen houses were also damaged in the incident.

A PIA spokesman said the plane was carrying 99 passengers and eight crew members. Airbus A320 PIA flight PK8303 left Lahore for Karachi at 1:10 am and crashed in Model Colony adjacent to the airport a few minutes before landing.

The plane crashed at Gate No. 2 of Malir Cantt, which is adjacent to the airport, before landing. More than 12 houses were damaged due to the crash. An emergency was declared at Karachi Airport after the crash.

Police and Rangers cordoned off the area and launched rescue operations, including rescue operations. Several fire brigade vehicles reached the area to put out the blaze.

According to the Sindh Health Department, 76 people have been confirmed dead in the accident. Of these, 44 bodies were shifted to Jinnah and 32 to Civil Hospital. The 14 dead have been identified, while others will be identified by DNA.

According to the health department, the two survivors of the plane crash are being treated at the Civil and Health Hospitals.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechoho has said that a series of DNA tests on the bodies has been started. The identification process will be completed in the next 24 to 48 hours.

He said that emergency has been declared in all the hospitals in Karachi and hospitals are already on high alert due to corona virus.

Confirmation of the survival of two passengers

According to officials, two survivors have been confirmed so far, identified as Zafar Masood and Muhammad Zubair. Zafar Masood is the President of Bank of Punjab. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited him at Darul Sahat Hospital and later talking to media said that his condition was out of danger. Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani visited him.

The black box of the crashed plane has been found. The technical team took the black box into custody. The black box will be sent to the company for decoding.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail while talking to SAMAA TV said that according to PIA CEO Arshad Malik, there was a problem in the engine of the plane and the landing gear did not work.

Federal Interior Minister Ijaz Shah has said that the Prime Minister will not leave the victims of the accident alone. They will be financially supported.

The plane was 10 years old

Imran Narejo, general secretary of the Pakistan Airlines Pilots Association, said it was not appropriate to say anything before the investigation, but initially it was known that the plane's landing gear did not work.

He said the plane was ten years old and had been leased by PIA.

Imran Narejo demanded from the Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Chief Justice that a board be constituted to investigate the accident so that the real reasons could be ascertained and such tragedies could be averted in the future.

Flights Resumed
Operations have been resumed at Karachi Airport after the accident. Flights will continue as usual. According to officials, the rescue operation will continue for 48 hours.

Formation of inquiry committee
The federal government has formed a four-member committee to investigate the plane crash in Karachi and has called for a report within a month.
The government of Pakistan has formed a four-member committee to investigate the accident, which will be headed by Air Commodore Muhammad Usman Ghani, who heads the Aircraft Accident and Investigation Board.

The other three members are Additional Director Technical Investigation of the Aircraft Accident and Investigation Board, Group Captain Tauqeer of the Pakistan Air Force Safety Board and Nasir Majeed.

The committee will complete the investigation as soon as possible and submit a report to the Aviation Division, but will be required to submit a report on the preliminary investigation within a month.

The Prime Minister expressed regret
