Javed Akhtar faces criticism over controversial tweet on Adhan

Popular Indian scriptwriter and poet Javed Akhtar recently tweeted a controversial tweet about the Muslim call to prayer, which is being criticized.

The Indian scriptwriter recently tweeted on a micro-blogging site expressing his views on giving azan in a loudspeaker.

Javed Akhtar wrote in his tweet that "it was haraam to give azan on loudspeaker in India for almost 50 years, later it became halal and it became so halal that it has no limit". He further wrote in his tweet. "Azan Dunya is fine, but giving azan over a loudspeaker causes trouble to others."

Javed Akhtar's tweet is being criticized by users.

Earlier, Indian singer Sonu Nigam had said that he was disturbed by the call to prayer in the loudspeaker. He had said that there were many mosques around his house and he did not want to hear the call to prayer but listened to them.
